Chris Palmer is an environmental
and wildlife film producer who in
2009 received the Lifetime Achievement
Award for Media at the International
Wildlife Film Festival He is president
of the MacGillivray Freeman Films
Educational Foundation, which produces
IMAX films, and he is also a professor
on the full-time faculty at American
University where he founded and directs
the Center for Environmental Filmmaking.
He is the president of the One World
Ocean Foundation and serves on 14
nonprofit boards. He and his colleagues
have won numerous awards, including
two Emmys, an Oscar nomination and,
most recently, the Environmental Film
Educator of the Decade Award at the
Green Globe Film Awards. His book,
Shooting in the Wild: An Insiders
Account of Making Movies in the Animal
Kingdom, was published May 2010 by
Sierra Club Books.
